i could use some brass knuckles.

Basics

Name/Nickname: Allie

Age: 21

Occupation: former student/I don't know what to do next

Likes: reading a lot, watching tv-series (all-time favs: mash, oz, gilmore girls, the office, scrubs, csi ny, pushing daisies) . I'm also a huge fan of BoB, naturally, and I love World War II stuff, such as  books and movies. I like to dance a lot, especially in the privacy of my own room. Go to concerts, hang out. Nothing out of the ordinary I'm afraid. Oh, and travelling. For a couchpotato, I do travel a lot.  And I like foreign people and cultures and what not (I did finish Social studies).

Dislikes: um.....I do know I dislike a lot of things, but for the life of me, none of them come to mind...Oh, here's a pretty constant one: people who consider themseves superior and people who act in a false, hypocritical way. Though they get on the nerves of everybody, I get really snappy around such characters.

Strengths: I've been told to have a sense of humour, that I'm creative (I write stuff sometimes), that I'm a perfectionist (though that minght be a weakness). I'm loyal to the brink of crazyness. I'm also friendly and open. Most of the times.

Weaknesses: I'm rather lazy, I seldom finish what I start and I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive. I like having control over stuff.

More In-depth

Introvert or extrovert?: Introvert with most people, but I get pretty extrovert if I feel I'm in a friendly environment (with nice people)

Hard Worker or layabout (or somewhere in between)?: what's lower than layabout? That would probably be me. It takes me ages to convince myself to actually do something. But when I do get to do it, I'm really crazy about doing it right (must be some OCD thing).

Are you the leader type?: I'd say no, but normally when I do something, I like to be in control, because I have the feeling other people won't do it right. But leadership stresses the heck outta me.

Are you adept at raising others' spirits?: Yeah, sure

Do you consider yourself popular?: Sometimes, only with some people.

People who first meet you probably think you are:  Mmmm, well, sometimes I seem open and really chatty and friendly, but other times I just stay in a corner and say nothing. So some people might think I'm the world's most popular comedian, while others might take me as a freakish dork.

How do you handle high-pressure situations?: I'm pretty calm at the moment, I freak out afterwards, when the moment passes and I realise the type of situation I was actually in. And I say that as a person who's been mugged.

Are you self-motivated, or do you rely on the encouragement of others?: Encouragement of others, definitely.

Do you work through unpleasant situations for your own satisfaction, or to prove yourself to others?: I try to prove myself. I get very sad If I dissapoint.

We Stand Alone Together

Your weekend pass has been revoked. What were you planning on using it for?: Aw, horsefeathers! And I was just about to go to the movies with my friends and have a good laugh. Maybe a beer or two.

You've been dropped into Normandy. You're all alone, it's pitch black, and there are Germans round every corner. How do you react? Who do you encounter on your trek to meet up with the rest of your battalion?: Well, what a marvelous clusterfuck! Since I'm short-sighted I'm way more in the dark than everybody else. I guess I first wet my pants, take a deep breath and then proceed really slowly through the woods, paying attention to sounds. Every time I hear a rustle of leaves or a twig crackling I utter "Flash" under my breath. Because I'm so damn precarious I manage not to bumb into Jerry. I meet another paratrooper and I let him take the lead, because I have terrible orientation skills at night.

You're caught in heavy fire and you see a buddy take a hit a few feet away from you. Do you go and help him, or immediately dive for cover?: I'm already under heavy fire and I can't seem to bear to look at him hurting and grunting. What the fuck, I'll crawl towards him, but on the side of him that's less exposed, and try to see how badly he's hurt and if I can help him. If he's way beyond saving I'll just give him morhpine and take cover, crying like a little girl on the way because I've never seen somebody dying before.

Many of your fellow paratroopers take the opportunity to grab a few souvenirs whilst billeting in towns. What, if anything, do you take and why?: I'm pretty ethical so I see looting as a form of stealing. But I'm also easily corruptible, so I might take something small, to remind me of every place I've been and every battle I survived, such as a book, a flag (liebgott-style), a key chain or any other small trinkets I might find. Never from a dead body though.

War is over. What are your plans for the future?: I feel so lost, I have no idea. I'm going to miss my friends and I have a feeling life cannot be the same again after everything that's happened. I  have a feeling I am losing a part of my soul when I  part with my buddies and I might try to move somewhere closer to them (or at least the best of them), maybe travel for a while to search myself. Maybe get some medical help for the shell-shock.

...i'm not sure this fits to a t, but i'm actually thinking liebgott for you -- there's a way you answered your questions that just, sounds like liebgot talking to me (a little bit flippant and blunt, but honest and genuine) and your 'more in depth' section sounds like him to me.

oh gosh, i'm not positive though, because there's some things that conflict with liebgott imo, but ...i think that's the one that comes closest? (I'M SORRY, if someone else suddenly comes to me, i'll double vote for you (: )

I got a really big Malarkey vibe from you for sure. :) I think it's cause some of what you write has an amusing tone and some is really serious. Also the end with "losing part of your soul when you part with your buddies" - and we all remember how Malarkey looked after losing his pals. I'd go with Malarkey. :)

Actually I think I agree with Leibgott particularly in your responses to the question of whether you would erngage in looting (I can see Leibgott thinking it immoral), saying you felt like you'd lose a part of your soul when you lost your friends, wanting to grab a beer and a movie with friends on your time off, good at keeping morale up and being creative and humorous.
